Meet the outstanding staff we've selected to lead the Shapiro Family Fellowship program.
| Shannon Sarna is a Development Executive in the Emerging Leaders and Philanthropists Division at UJA-Federation of New York. Shannon previously served as the Communications Manager for The Samuel Bronfman Foundation for four years where she had the privilege to work closely with the principals of the Foundation to plan community events throughout North America; work with grantees on creating authentic media strategies; and manage the public relations for Edgar M. Bronfman’s most recent book, Hope, Not Fear: A Path to Jewish Renaissance. Shannon has also served as special assistant to former President Avraham Infeld and Development Associate for Donors Relations at Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, where she worked closely with Hillel’s International Board of Governors. Shannon studied Comparative Government and Spanish Language and Literature at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Shannon lives in New York with her husband, and adopted dog Otis.

| Uri Leventer-Roberts is a Planning Executive for the Commission On the Jewish People at UJA-Federation of New York. He oversees two philanthropic grant portfolios: Arab Citizens of Israel, and Jewish Peoplehood in New York. Prior to joining UJA-Federation of New York, he worked as a strategic communications consultant at Empax, specializing in working with non-profit organizations. Uri grew up in Tel Aviv, and served as an intelligence officer in the IDF. He has worked as a senior news editor at the internationally acclaimed Ha’aretz newspaper, managing the front page during major events such as the second intifada, and as a senior news producer at Channel 10 News, one of Israel’s top national television networks, managing live broadcasts during Israel’s disengagement from Gaza and the 2006 war in Lebanon. Uri received his master’s degree in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, and his bachelor's in Political Science and History from Tel Aviv University. He occasionally writes for Globes, Israel’s leading business publication, focusing on successful Israeli entrepreneurs and business leaders in New York. Uri lives in New York with his wife and newborn son. In November 2011 he completed the New York City Marathon, his first ever.

Jeremy Leigh (Educator, Class Two)
Jeremy Leigh was born in London, UK and emigrated to Israel in 1992, having completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in Jewish History at University College London and the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Over the years, Jeremy has lectured at numerous academic institutions in Jerusalem. He is currently a lecturer in Jewish History and Israel Studies at the Hebrew Union College Jerusalem and The Institute for Youth Leaders from Abroad. Until recently, he taught Israeli Cinema at the Rothberg School of the Hebrew University.
In 2002, Jeremy founded "Jewish Journeys", a project concerned with developing innovative educational travel to Jewish sites in Europe, North Africa and North America. Parallel to this, he has authored many Jewish travel books, the latest being ‘Jewish Journeys’ (Haus Publ., London 2006). His latest project is entitled ‘Jews Must Go: Reflections on the Jewish Grand Tour’ due to be completed in summer 2010.
