MEET THE FELLOWS

Lisa RaddingLisa Radding

Lisa has always been fascinated by onomastics, the study of names. She pursues this interest professionally, as a Researcher and Product Developer at Ethnic Technologies, a small direct marketing database software company in South Hackensack, NJ, where she researches the ethnicities of names. She earned her BA in linguistics summa cum laude at Syracuse University, and considers herself primarily an onomastician rather than a linguist. An active member of the American Name Society, she represents her company at the Society’s annual meeting.

While growing up in Newton, MA, Lisa spent a decade of summers at Camp Ramah in New England, as first a camper and then a counselor. She considers Camp Ramah her first Jewish community. She now lives in Hoboken, NJ, where she is helping to foster a Jewish community of young adults through her involvement in the Hoboken Moishe House and various activities of the United Synagogue of Hoboken.

Lisa enjoys traveling, and experiencing different peoples, languages, and cultures. She studied for a semester at Universite Marc Bloch in Strasbourg, France, perfecting her French language skills, and has traveled throughout Europe. Closer to home, Lisa spends her free time coaching gymnastics and playing Ultimate Frisbee.
