MEET THE FELLOWS

noahRuvym Gilman

Legal and Business Affairs Manager, Birthright Israel NEXT, Inc.

Ruvym got his BA in English Literature and Politics from NYU in 2003 and then went on to get his J.D. from the NYU School of Law in 2006. While at law school, Ruvym participated in a Birthright Israel trip in the Winter 2004 - 2005 season.

Upon returning, Ruvym started becoming more engaged in Jewish culture and Israeli politics. During his last year of law school he served as student board president of Chabad Serving NYU. In the last few years Ruvym has further expanded his involvement within the Jewish world through his membership in the Jewish Enrichment Center's Young Philanthropist Committee, participation in the Anti-Defamation League's Glass Young Leadership Committee, a fellow of the Kivun Intensive Leadership & Professional Development Fellowship, and continued alumni support of Chabad Serving NYU. Since the Fall of 2007, Ruvym has been involved in Birthright Israel NEXT's spoken-word show Monologues which features original poetry, stories, and performance art about the many facets of Jewish identity. In September, 2008, after returning from the Shapiro Fellowship trip, Ruvym left his job at a corporate law firm to become Birthright Israel NEXT's Legal and Business Affairs Manager. This coming summer, Ruvym will finally get the chance to lead his first Birthright Israel trip for Israel Outdoors.

Outside of work and Jewish life, Ruvym also tries to get some writing in. You can find it both on his blog - http://ruvym.blogspot.com - and published/posted in various other magical and unexpected places.
